SiriProxy-XBMC

Now that we have a 4S jailbreak, is there any potential for this becoming a tweak that does not require a Siri proxy server?

I am using a (trusted) publicly hosted Siri Server (because I am using Siri on my 3GS, rather then 4S). Would it be possible to package this as a Cydia app?

Loving your work by the way! I was really looking forward to a tweak like this. If it's not possible for it to be installed via Cydia i'll look at purchasing an old computer so I can install my own version of SiriProxy.

I found the answer to my question. I asked how to add the new fork but used this:
git://github.com/patrickkettner/SiriProxy-XBMC.git

Thanks to both of you for your efforts. I prefer to say "watch" rather than "play" because play interferes with the basic iPhone music command.

I change 'play' to 'watch', and added the ability to play entire season of shows. There are a few bugs still, but it works as long as you actually have the show and season. =]

I'll be adding more features until im happy with it, and then doing a pull to brainwave.

Nice work, what other features do you have planned? If you could specify a specific season/episode number that would be super.

For example just say

watch the big bang theory season 5 episode 11

Update Library works too.

This isn't a plugin for XBMC. It's a plugin for SiriProxy (https://github.com/plamoni/SiriProxy)

Getting SiriProxy up and running is a bit of a task in itself and unless you're happy with shell scripting this might be a bit much for you. However instructions for installation are available on the GitHub repository for SiriProxy but assume installation under Ubuntu - i.e. not Windows.

Question
I tried this with the latest TLP SiriProxy (see here) and tried both the original "git://github.com/brainwave9/SiriProxy-XBMC.git" and forked "git://github.com/patrickkettner/SiriProxy-XBMC.git" builds of the XBMC plugin, however each time after I get "XBMC is on" and I say "play" or "watch" the plugin crashes!

Using: XBMC API Version 2 - Dharma

For reference the proxy is working with Siri 100% so I suspect some coding issues on the plugin side. I even opened a case here: https://github.com/brainwave9/SiriProxy-XBMC/issues/3

Any suggestions?

Is anyone actually using this? I would love to be able to be able to use Siri to start my videos. It doesn't seem like this is a very active thread. Sad

I just came a cross the SiriProxy stuff. And I really liked so much I started to learn the Ruby language to code some stuff in.
I have a XBMCBuntu Frodo 12 version with is running the original SiriProxy on boot.

This XBMC plugin is awesome, indeed the play option was irritating because of the music playing part.
So I started a Fork on pattrickketner's modified fork of the original plugin by brainwave9.

I've updated and cleaned all the sources so it become's easier to modify.

The next updates I have maded in my version:
  • Support for Frodo 12
  • Added support for Fanart, Thumbnail and Year
  • Added thumbnail when using command whatch (only works for Movie or Episode. Not Season, TVShow)
  • Cleaned the code even more..
  • Listen operation watch and what's are now one, fused with query

Keep in mind that the image could maybe not be shown when using a password on the 80 or 8080 port.
I use a image call which is supported true XBMC itself.

Use

I am currently in the development of this plugin with my own Fork.
Trying to add some cool features, and let it work better for searching.
Any new ideas are welcome. I can build in support for albums and songs there are forks which has this code (so I can add this code).

But really need some good ideas. I'am going to try to build the search functionality better so it has a better change finding the movie.
Like when you say Ice Age two it will search for Ice Age 2, etc...
