No "Eject Tray" Button
#1
Hi guys!

I wonder why there is no "eject tray" button in Aeon Nox? When I insert a DVD, then the CD/DVD-Button appears and plays and so on, but I have to switch to the terminal and type "eject" to throw out the DVD, because I can't find the "eject tray"-Button.

The terminal-thing is only possible at the moment, as long as I am installing the system, but in the end, the system will run without keyboard/mouse.

Sys.Info:
OS: Lubuntu 12.04 64bit
Mainboard: Asus E45M1-I DELUXE AMD A50M (http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.p...etail.html)
Case: MS-Tech MC-80AN ITX (http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.p...razit.html there is no eject-button)
DVD-Drive: Optiarc AD7800H-01(http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.p...hwarz.html)

Is there a work-around for my problem or am I just blind or something?

because there aren´t a lot of people who need it. you can assign it to any home menu item / quicknav item though (select type --> pre-defined functions --> eject tray

jep, I've found this one already, thank you anyway. but nothing happens when I try to use it. Undecided

edit: OK I've managed it to work with the help from the guys here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=130309

another question: why don't you (the skin-devs) put a submenu for CD/DVD to eject the tray?
The CD/DVD-Button is hiding/appearing when I put in DVD or eject it, but the "Eject Tray"-Button is always visible with this solution.
And another thing is: the CD/DVD-Button and "Eject Tray"-Buttons now are "miles" away from each other... Undecided

I love this Skin because everything is so "round" and simply great, beside this little problem...

in nox 4.0 you´ll be able to assign a submenu to CD-DVD main menu item. that should do it.

Hi phil65,

Has the function you mention been implemented yet?
I can't seem to find any CD-DVD main menu item in Nox 4.0.9. There is just the double-CD logo button menu appearing at the lower left corner every time a CD/DVD is inserted in the optical drive, which only allows me to play without any way to immediately rip or eject the disc, forcing us to go into the file sub-menu mode of music menu to do this. Once there, I can't simply eject the disc if it is currently playing. I instead have to go to the visualisation screen, stop the playback and because there is no eject button there either, go back to the file mode menu and select the optical drive sub-menu and eject. Additionally the eject won't work with the optical tray empty. Of course I had to add the CD optical drive first by entering the source's path as: cdda://local/cdda otherwise no chance to have the ripping option working from within the file menu either. Will the latter get fixed in a next iteration of Aeon Nox?

I do not agree with the narrow minded approach that everybody gets their music or films via downloads. It is a combination of sources that is really going on. I would like to mention that XBMC should be for everybody and the reality is that many people are transitioning into XBMC with a few or a lot of optical media accumulated over the years, that we'd like to play regularly or rip easily into our systems with Aeon Nox skin. No immediate easy way to eject the disc removes simplicity from the user's point of view, when this is a very basic function that should be very simple and quick to operate: press play/rip —> press eject, and next disc please. Right?

On another matter I would like to thank you for your excellent work and guidance with the missing studio flags, how to acquire and submit them. Best, CF

btw. you can add a menu / submenu entry with that function, you can choose it from the actions menu, when setting it up (it simply calls XBMC.EjectTray(); I created a home menu entry DISC, to start a optical media, and submenu entries for DVD, BluRay (discoverd that blurays are now handled by frodo through the PlayDVD function, too; but you can also set a path link to drive mount point/BDMV/index.bdmv) and "Eject" ..

An issue: If I insert a optical media I can call Eject and it opens the tray, if I call it again, it closes the tray .. but it's only done one time, means, if I call the function again, nothing happens .. any suggestions ?

So long
