Hi, I currently have the first Raspberry pi model B with 256mb of ram running openelec raspberry or whatever and the menu is choppy. I was wondering if upgrading to the 512mb PI would be better with the menu's? i really want to run Aeon Nox theme and not have it be choppy. Can the 512mb PI run Aeon Nox smoothly even if i overclock it or should i look for a more powerful machine if i want to run more complex themes?

Nope. Aeon Nox, even with most of the options turned off, is a bit of a dead end for the Raspberry Pi. Even overclocked, it's just too much for it.
You should look for a more powerful machine if you want to run the more heavy skins. I'd suggest a miniITX based system using an Intel Celeron processor. With sales, you can build a really nice and Aeon-friendly machine for $100 USD.

You could try the Ace skin, it is by the same author as Aeon Nox, but a lot lighter. Very nice even though it is so much lighter.

Revo 3700's make very nice XBMC machines capable of running Aeon-type skins- you can find them on ebay for under £100.
