Since it's based on your collection and random choices; There may be tons of bugs!! So I would backup any configuration files (cache folder, settings2.xml) before installing.

This wouldn't be for the users who depend on PTVL for everyday TV viewing, but more for testing purposes... The sooner users report bugs and problems; the faster I can get it finished Smile

Post 1 was updated with the latest stable version before I pushed the updates...

Auto-tuning will control channel ordering based on your selection of options. Once auto-tuning is complete you can add traditional channels using whatever method you used previously.
It will also build clean each time it's activated; and builds using all media mapped to XBMC (so large collections will take sometime to build).

There will be a recovery option for users who want to undo auto-tuning after it runs.

Auto-tuning options will include:
  • LiveTV:
    • USTVnow w/EPG
    • HDhomerun (coming soon)
  • TV Network
  • Movie Studios
  • TV Genres
  • Movie Genres
  • Mixed TV/Movie Genres
  • Music Genres
    Music Videos:
    • Youtube
    • VevoTV
    • Local Directory
  • InternetTV (coming soon)
  • User selected addons/plugins (coming soon)

Thanks for your support!

Best news I've heard all week! Can't wait to test autotuning.
happy to help test the hdhomerun auto tuning

I have everything set up the way I want it with an xmltv file listing the program data for 12 live channels that are coming from my HDHomerun. On first start of PTVL the current episode is listed as starting right now:

All the other channels end at the appropriate time (1930) but are cut off from the beginning. This isn't a big deal to me but still not exactly like a cablebox epg.

The problem I have is that if a show that is to come on in the future like Bones at 2000 is selected the current show on that channel will be played as expected (can't jump into the future with live TV) but when I reenter the EPG Bones is now listed as currently showing when of course its not

The only way to reset the shows back to their original times is to restart PTVL, but again the current shows start at the current time and the blue vertical time line doesn't split the show in progress, it just cuts it off from the beginning and leaves the time remaining.

My settings2.xml looks like this:
<setting id="Channel_805_type" value="8" />
<setting id="Channel_805_1" value="I805.28460172.microsoft.com" />
<setting id="Channel_805_2" value="hdhomerun://103C01F4-0/tuner0?channel=qam256:453000000&program=1" />
<setting id="Channel_805_rulecount" value="1" />
<setting id="Channel_805_time" value="164" />
<setting id="Channel_805_changed" value="False" />
<setting id="Channel_805_rule_1_id" value="1" />
<setting id="Channel_805_rule_1_opt_1" value="FOX" />

I have Default channel times at startup set to Real Time
and Time between channel resets set to Automatic

Any thought?

I know that the EPG sync issues are on the back burner for a bit but something I noticed recently...
Like everyone says when a show is selected in the EPG and it's live TV (in my case from HDHomeRun Channel type 8) the EPG shifts the start time of a show to the current time (NBC news at 5 will show as starting at 5 when the EPG first opens but shifts over to 5:35 if thats the time I click it).

However with channels compiled from local media (Channel type 6) the episodes seem to be "pinned" to the EPG. If I click on a show under a channel created with Channel type 6 and that show appears to be in progress (blue time marker is partway through the show) the show will play partway through and the end time will remain in the same position after EPG is reopened.

This is exactly what we need with EPG positioning!!

Apparently PTVL already handles the EPG how we need it to. Unsure if I'm thinking about this correctly but it seems that what Channel type 6 is doing is that when a currently playing show is selected it takes the difference between time 0 (when PTLV was started) and the current time and adds that to the playlist "seekbar" time and therefor plays the show mid episode and updates the EPG to correspond. If we could do everything other than move the seek bar (you can't seek forward with live tv) it seems like the EPG issues would be addressed.

I'm no programmer lol maybe this isn't what happens. I'll try to look through the code and see if I can find what part of the code for Channel type 6 tells the system to play a show from a time >0 (other than the beginning) while still "pinning" the EPG info to the timeline. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I know what's wrong... Not an easy fix ATM so its not being looked into right now.

I've been holding off on updating until the auto-tune function. I was wondering you have plans for(or maybe already supported) Youtube channels, in which subscriptions could be made into channels?

I meant being able to enter our username and building channels from our personal subs. Or am I missing something?

Thanks for all your work Lunatixz. This is an awesome plugin.
Quick Poll!!

What platform do you run XBMC w/PTVL on? (Windows,Mac,Android,Linux,Other).

Do you generate your own XMLTV files for LiveTV? What grabber are you using?

Important I get your feedback...

Also is anyone else having problems connecting to USTVNOW? try the plugin link in first post... let me know if its working for you...

I run PTVL on Windows 8 and use mc2xml with schedules direct for the xmltv info running nightly.
