since it's not a ChromeBox (or XBMC) specific issue, you might have more luck asking/searching on the Ubuntu forums

I do have a chromebox, HP chromebox to be exact.

I think Matt's saying that it isn't a issue specific to the Chromebox or XBMC, not that you haven't got a Chromebox.

i think Thats not a chromebox Problem. Google it. Thats a known issue from K400

But i think with the coreboot firmware it works (but chromeOS wont work with it) right matt?

It works after the 30second time out once chromeOS opens, but during the developer screen it doesnt. I remember reading something where Matt said the k400 wont work with openELEC, and I originally planned on running that so I bought the mk520 keyboard/mouse but decided to use Ubuntu instead and have since returned the mk520 in place of the k400.....ugh lol

Bought the Chromebox into work today. Going to try to install Matt's update.

I must say so far box seems to be pretty good. I like it better than the FTV

It's the first issue listed on the wiki. I bought a K400 myself along with the Chromebox, but had to return it because of this.

Hey Matt just wondering with can restore to factory chromeos if didn't do backup? This box might have an issue and need to return it.

Without a backup? Fry's will not take it back since they tried to boot it. I am guessing maybe I don't understand how to get back to out of box.

1) why are you trying to return it?

2) the instructions in the wiki for restoring the stock firmware (which you have to do before re-installing ChromeOS) include a link to a usable stock firmware file if you don't have a backup

Front USB ports on unit are bad.

So I have done this:

Note that this will re-partition the internal hard drive and restore the original copy of ChromeOS, erasing anything else on the drive. The ChromeBox will still be left in developer mode, and if you changed the boot options they will still be set.

If you're having trouble creating the recovery media using Google's recovery tool above, you can manually download the recovery image and write it to a USB stick:
##Download Recovery image: https://dl.google.com/dl/edgedl/chromeos...mp.bin.zip
## Download Win32 Disk Imager: http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/
## Unzip the recovery image; the file should be ~1.5 GB
## Rename the recovery image extension from .bin to .img
## Write the image to your USB media using Win32 Disk Imager

I have this on my USB Stick. How do I recover to this? Part I am lost at I think.

so first thing you need to do is flash the stock firmware - have you done that?

afterwards, you need to use Google's recovery tool to create the recovery media, which will reinstall ChromeOS. With the device powered off and no USB/SD connect, press the recovery button, power on, wait 3s, un-press recovery button. Insert/connect the recovery media when prompted.

finally, you will need to disable developer mode, by pressing [space] on the dev mode boot screen.

Fixed that part
