Matt, any updates on Bluetooth issues? Seems to be a kernel issue from reading the OpenELEC issue tracker?

Still broken for me in 4.1.4.

I just bought a Logitech Di Novo Mini (Bluetooth).
After reading the last post, I guess I will not be able to use it. Is that correct?

I was having problem with wake from suspend in general but after a lot of patience Mat deviller we narrowed the problem down to KVM. Wake from suspend works fine without the KVM (keyboard - mouse does not seem to wake the device).

I'm now trying a k400 hooked directly to the device and wake from suspend does not work. Matt Deveo suggest there were 'approved' devices for wake from suspend but not sure where the list is located.

pretty sure the BT issue is only affecting the PS3 remote, but let us know when you receive it Smile

as I said, your problem really has nothing to do with the ChromeBox itself, or XBMC -- it's a Ubuntu / kernel / device issue. Most people here are running OpenELEC (I think?), and having no problems waking from suspend with any USB devices; you'll likely get better help on Ubuntu-specific forums.

I agree with you that there was a kernel issue so the kernel was upgraded to 3.15.4 to address the kernel issue then wake from suspend started working (but not from kvm). What I'm looking for is confirmation that the k400 actually works for someone else - i'll try mint from a live usb and see if that helps with the k400.

One of the reasons I bought the ASUS Chromebox was because I thought it was fanless.
Although I'm still very satisfied with it, I'm a bit annoyed about the fan, it's on about 90% of the time, and my living room is not to hot.

I'm I the only one experiencing this?

Well on teh box i've been testing the fan seem to run all the time and according to sensors the processor ranges from low 40C/high 30C to 60C dependent on load (I think 60C was the peak when running mprime for 3 days and over the weekend they turned off the ac).

So it doesnt' really surprise me that the fan runs all the time but it is not too loud.

for the curious, here's the list of the various fan states / temperature thresholds for each state as used in my coreboot firmware:

The values used by the stock Google/Asus firmware are similar but not identical:

The stock Google/HP stock firmware is much more aggressive in its cooling strategy, which is likely why people have reported the HP ChromeBox having a louder fan than the Asus:

Got my Chromebox setup yesterday with this script! It's brilliant, thanks a ton for making it! My only suggestion so far would be for it to have an extra option to download XBMC only instead of all the other desktops so it'd just boot into that.

Other than that, it's been great. It's locked up a few times, but if it happens again, I'll post some logs. Also, is the processor supposed to be hitting 70%/20% at all times when it's just sitting there?

If you want something that boots directly into XBMC, OpenELEC is the easiest solution; otherwise, you're on your own.

If you're dual booting Ubuntu and only have a single 2GB stick of RAM, and haven't manually updated the kernel, then yeah there are some CPU usage issues, as noted in the wiki.

FWIW, I can easily hear the fan in the HP Chromebox with your Coreboot BIOS / firmware in a silent room from several feet away when the box is idle. I don't know if the HP has a louder fan than the ASUS or not. I will probably try to modify fan profile and rebuild the BIOS to make it less obtrusive.

Edit: I also noticed my Lenovo wireless keyboard/mouse worked with the stock HP BIOS / firmware, but doesn't with the Coreboot one.

yeah, I don't think it's ever completely silent, but the HP could be using a different fan. Care to take it apart and snap a pic?

define "worked" - there's only a limited number of situations where you can make a direct comparison between the two. Are we talking at the SeaBIOS boot menu? in a specific OS?
