[RELEASE] Chrome Launcher
Would it be possible to move all of the xdotool stuff from the netflix plugin into this one, so that all the netflix plugin needs to do is call this plugin and all the "hackery" is done in the chrome launcher plugin. Also what would be fantastic, which would be to all the configuration of user agent based on the url requested, so this could also be removed from the netflix plugin. Would make the chrome launcher plugin far more useful.

I am looking to use it for a feature in youtube plugin for instance

Hi,

I have 2 questions. OS : xbmcbuntu.

Quote:Important update: starting with version 35, Google Chrome no longer supports NPAPI plugins so Pipelight won't work in Chrome!

Does this mean chrome can't be used for this anymore? Chromium should be used?
EDIT : Google-chrome asks for silverlight.
Google-chrome-stable is fine with pipelight. (At least i get the netflix posterwall in chrome, supose thats the purpose?)

Is there a proper way to setup a remote that already works in xbmc (flirc)?

Help needed here !! Thanks Wink

Here is my config : raspberry pi + raspbmc up-to-date (& clean)

Applications added : chromium + chromium-browser + chrome launcher 1.1.1

I try to start the chrome-launcher with the sample youtube link provided by the add-on.
In the script.sh file, I've changed the path to launch chromium-browser.
Result : nothing happens. Just the small animation bottom right of the screen for 2 seconds and then nothing.

In the log file I can see the following :

22:47:18 T:2859463744 NOTICE: Thread LanguageInvoker start, auto delete: false
22:47:18 T:2859463744 NOTICE: -->Python Interpreter Initialized<--

Can you help me on this one Huh I'm getting crazy with this issue ...

This means silverlight is not needed for this to work in chrome. You will need chrome unstable. Which is what i've been using and find that it works

You need to use CHROME unstable, not chromium. YOu also need to install 3 dependancies.

If you do a google search there are plenty of tutorials on how to install all 4.

Im having the exact same setup and problem.
netflix works perfectly in chrome fullscreen, started from the desktop. Dut any page open with chrome launcher have a white bar at the bottom and right side.
any sugestions would be apreciated.

Think i found the solution, or a start anyway. in ubuntu settings go into appearance, and enable auto-hide launcher, that will get rid of the right hand white bar. i suppose removing the menubar at the top will fix the other border, but i see no option for it...

All fixed in latest chrome update :-)

I'm having an issue with no sound when Chrome is launched via Chrome Launcher. I am running XBMC Gotham on XBMCBuntu (latest 14.04). When on the desktop (default XBMCBuntu desktop is LXDE) I have sound in Chrome. However, when launched with Chrome Launcher inside XBMC, I'm not getting any sound on any sites (tried Netflix & YouTube).

I am only interested in having sound coming out of my HDMI device. Does anyone know if I've misconfigured my .asoundrc and that's why I'm having sound issues with Chrome Launcher?

.asoundrc (also copied this to /etc/asound.conf for good measure)
Code:
pcm.!default {
    type hw
    card 0
    device 3
}
ctl.!default {
    type hw
    card 0
    device 3
}

aplay -l
Code:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 1: ALC887-VD Digital [ALC887-VD Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Thanks in advanced guys!

Hi all

Congrats anyone contributing to these addons

I am using NetfliXBMC and Chrome Launcher on a bleeding edge gentoo
linux HTPC with unstable chrome.

Since XBMC runs on window manager (evilwm) I do not need openbox.

I noticed script.sh is DOS style (\r) so I UNIX converted it since,
obviously, linux could not run unexisting bash\r |-)

here is mine:
--
xbmc@htpc ~ $ ls -al .xbmc/addons/plugin.program.chrome.launcher/script.sh
-rwxr-xr-x 1 htpc htpc 407 Sep 30 02:57 .xbmc/addons/plugin.program.chrome.launcher/script.sh
xbmc@htpc ~ $ id xbmc
uid=1000(htpc) gid=1000(htpc) groups=1000(htpc)
xbmc@htpc ~ $ cat .xbmc/addons/plugin.program.chrome.launcher/script.sh
#!/bin/bash

shift $(expr ${#} - 1)

echo /usr/bin/chrome \
--start-maximized \
--disable-translate \
--disable-new-tab-first-run \
--no-default-browser-check \
--no-first-run \
--kiosk \
\""${@}"\" > /home/xbmc/tmp/chrome.cmd

/usr/bin/chrome \
--start-maximized \
--disable-translate \
--disable-new-tab-first-run \
--no-default-browser-check \
--no-first-run \
--kiosk \
\""${@}"\"

exit 0
--

Note I needed to add extra surrounding "" (without : no go)

Note also that I got rid of --user-agent= string which was unquoted as
well. I do have it set correctly for netflix.com anyway in browser
spoofer plugin.

I echo command for later inspection, it shows:
--
xbmc@htpc ~ $ cat /home/xbmc/tmp/chrome.cmd
/usr/bin/chrome --start-maximized --disable-translate --disable-new-tab-first-run --no-default-browser-check --no-first-run --kiosk "https://www.netflix.com/SwitchProfile?tkn=2KQSI7VHTFBARHMFGSCGRB745E&nextpage=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.netflix.com%2FWiPlayer%3Fmovieid%3D70222216"
--

This command works *-perfectly-* from UNIX command line!, but, on XBMC as such, it opens chrome
half width complaining 'URL not found'.

I am kind of confused now... I guess "close but no cigar"

Thanks

similar here

I manage to get video using following script:
--
#!/bin/bash

shift $(expr ${#} - 1)

/usr/bin/chrome \
--disable-translate \
--disable-new-tab-first-run \
--no-default-browser-check \
--no-first-run \
--alsa-output-device=default \
--window-position=0,0 \
--window-size=1920,1080 \
--kiosk \
"${@}"

exit 0
--
and I have following in .asoundrc
--
pcm.!default hdmi:NVidia
--
I tried a few more combinations to no avail.
Hints are welcome!

I gave up, and connected the onboard HTPC audio to the audio system for the TV.
now -everything- works
I use pulse asoundrc (if that matters)

Note that while Netflix plays, with Yatse remote control on Android, there is no "play bar", so I cannot stop Netflix.
I could try to send Alt-F4 but not sure howto with Yatse.
Perhaps I should launch chrome in background?
I mean like:
chrome <args> &

fwiw
Launching Chrome in background does not provide Yatse's "play bar" either.
So I guess one needs a dedicated Android keyboard app to send complex key sequences.
Ideally, however, Yatse's "play bar" would provide basic (stop, start, fwd, bwd, etc...) functionality

Hi. I'm running Chrome Launcher on a Windows machine that is also my workstation pc, so my tv is the second screen. My problem is that I can't seem to make Chrome Launcher run on my second screen, unless I assign my tv as the primary monitor, which is out of the question. Is there any way past this or will I just have to accept that it's impossible?
