Installation Instructions.
When I tried to install the latest version of WIMM (4.1.16) on Helix 14.1, one look at the installation instructions indicated they hadn't been updated in long time. Any new user trying follow those instructions would be frustrated. I was certainly frustrated and I've been using XWMM since Eden.
Working with the Confluence skin on Windows 7 x64, here's what I found:
These are the current instructions:
Method 1: (
WIMM will be the only web interface) -- 4.1.11 or newer required fr this)
- Go to System > Add-ons > Get Add-ons > WIMM Add-on Repository > Web interface
- Select WIMM
- Go to System > Settings > Network > Services:
- Allow control XBMC via HTTP
- Web interface : WiMM
- open your browser to http://<your_Kodi_IP>:<port>
Problem #1
Instruction:
"Go to System > Add-ons > Get Add-ons > WIMM Add-on Repository > Web interface"
On Helix:
Go to System > Settings > Add-ons > Get Add-ons > (but there's no WIMM Add-on Repository listed)
Alternate installation to install from ZIP file on Helix:
Go to System > Settings > Add-ons > Install from ZIP file and navigate to my
previously download zip. Successfully installed and enabled.
Problem #2
"Go to System > Settings > Network > Services:" (there's no Network item listed)
On Helix:
Go to System > Settings > System there's an entry for Internet Access (No Network item listed available).
If you go System > Settings > System there's an entry for Internet Access but no entry for "Allow control XBMC via HTTP".
If you go to System > Settings > Services > Webserver, lo and behold the entry to "Allow control of Kodi via HTTP" is available. After enabling that you have the options of setting Port, Username, Password AND Web Interface, so you set it to WIMM.
Thankfully that worked for me.
So...the sequence I worked out is this:
1. Download ZIP file from
https://github.com/slash2009/XWMM/releases and save to your drive.
2. Install WIMM from the ZIP file:
- System > Settings > Add-ons > Install from ZIP file
- Navigate to the file you downloaded, highlight it, then click OK.
- Verify that the WIMM Add-on is enabled
3. Configure Web Settings
- Go to
System > Settings > Services > Webserver
-
Enable "Allow control of Kodi via HTTP"
- Select a Port (Default: 80)
- Define User name (If needed)
- Define Password for User (if needed)
- Verify Web Interface is set to WIMM
4. Launch your browser to
http://<your_Kodi_IP>:<port>
Usually just entering 127.0.0.1 will do the job unless you have changed other parameters
of your browser setup.
If anyone sees a problem with these steps please let me know! If not, it would be good if the installation steps in the original message could be updated.
