NAS Advice

Awhile ago I bought a combo deal from Newegg that included the following parts:
ECS NGT 430
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Motherboard
Core i3 540
Thermaltake TR2 500W PSU
CORSAIR XMS3 4GB RAM
Among other things.

I was hoping to build a near silent, very capable HTPC. Well, as someone suggested at the time, it's not very silent. I suppose I could replace some parts and make it quieter, but instead I'm thinking I'll live with my Revo 1610 for awhile and use the motherboard, processor, RAM and PSU to build a nice NAS instead. Besides storage, I'd want it to run SABnzbd+, Sick Beard, & Squeeze Server. Low, but not necessarily ultra-low, power consumption would of course be nice.

My question is, does this seem like a good use of the parts? Is there a significantly better collection of hardware that would make it worth using these for something else?

TIA

Ooh, I'm going to have to update my sig one of these days, thats pretty out of date.
