[RELEASE] freedocast

sreenivas.hcu Wrote:Hi t0mm0

I tried upgrading to 0.1.2 and used below link to invoke freedocast.

plugin://plugin.video.freedocast/?play=http://www.yupptv.com/streams/maamusic.aspx

but I couldnt get it play the stream. may be it doesnt have flash fallback. I am not sure.

freedocast != yupptv != octocast

the url you are passing to the addon is on yupptv.com, and embeds a freedocast stream which uses the octocast platform. phew! that was complicated!

anyway, i could pretty easily modify the freedocast plugin to play this page, though i'm not sure it's worth it - are there lots of yupptv pages like this? if so would it make sense to make a yupptv addon?

the freedocast addon currently accepts only freedocast urls.

t0mm0

EDIT: just had a look around the yupptv site and it seems there are loads of streams like this. is it worth building a yupptv addon or does one already exist? assuming they are stable (the streams seem pretty flaky to me but i suppose that could just be my connection), i would have thought with that much content floating around someone who is interested in these channels would have done it by now....

May be I have not searched enough. There are some plugins that does play yupptv streams but they just play alternative rtmp streams which is not a complete list and the reason could be yupptv is a paid service.

so may be you are right it has to be a seperate plugin and may be we should wait for some more votes before spending effort on this.

Thanks for your efforts.

Hi,

Can u help me. I made a plugin that plays videos from http://tvslo.si/.

Allmost all videos use octoshape for high quality and rtmp protocol for low qualty. My plugin https://github.com/dahool84/MMC.RTVSLO uses the rtmp protocol for videos (low quality). Lately videos (specialy sport section) are only available with octoshape plugin. Do u have any ideas how can i plays those videos, or if u could take a quick look if it is possible to play those videos in xbmc (with flash fallback). I would be very greatfull.

Here is the page of the octoshape videos http://tvslo.si/?c_mod=play&op=videonews...ort&page=0.

Tnx,
dahool

if they are not using flash for fallback (if i go to those streams in the browser i just get an error as i don't have octoshape installed) then there is not a lot you can do.

it may be possible to play octoshape streams using their client in a similar way to how people use sopcast with xbmc, as i think their client runs in the background and acts like a proxy so the player connects to that rather than their servers, but i haven't really looked at that. if it were possible it would probably be hard to do in a cross platform way, and wouldn't work on atv or xbox.

Guys, is there an issue with this add-on. It'd bee running without any issues. Just recently, no stream begins and mostly there is no error message either. All the streams are listed as always.

Am running this on atv2 , oct 31 nightly. Thanks.

Have tried reinstalling.

t0mm0, it would be nice to have a yupptv addon with the login credentials. As it is a paid service Yupptv will not have any problem as long as the addon works only when we provide our credentials.

Hi t0mm0,
yupptv seems to have a mix of octocast, rtmp, rtsp streams. You can check the desistreams xml file for the complete list we made a few months ago (at least of rtmp/rtsp): http://desistreams.googlecode.com/svn/desistreams.xml

However, it seems that they are moving streams towards octocast. Some of the streams we originally found to use rtsp don't work now because on the website they are now using octocast. Which makes sense (I would probably do the same).

If thats the case, it would probably make sense to invest some time in making a separate yupp tv plugin.

Thanks

Seems like t0mm0 is busy...I figured out what the problem was and created a temporary fixed version here. Or you can just change the below:

Basically the fix is on the below 2 lines, change "watch_url" to "self.__build_url(watch_url)" (without double quotes)
https://github.com/t0mm0/t0mm0-xbmc-plug...ast.py#L86
https://github.com/t0mm0/t0mm0-xbmc-plug...ast.py#L95

Also if the below line is added (after this one), other addons can call the freedon addon to start a live channel
Code:
xbmc.Player( xbmc.PLAYER_CORE_DVDPLAYER ).play( stream_url, xbmcgui.ListItem(label=play) )

e.g. with the above change you can create the below entry in an xml file (using LiveStreams plugin) and it will start the stream

Code:
<item>
<title>Captanmedia123</title>
<link>plugin://plugin.video.freedocast/?play=captainmedia123</link>
<thumbnail></thumbnail>
</item>

harish, seems like the suvarnatv channel on freedocast doesn't work any more so this does not help you.

Actually now with the latest update to Livestreams plugin, you don't need to add the xbmc.Player line to be able to start a freedocast channel from livestreams plugin. (might still need it for others though)

freedocast is not working for me today. Is that the case for everyone else?
