NAS+Mediastreamer ALL-In-One Mini-itx
#1
I have finally gotten feed up with cords and powercables around the livingroom so now im cutting down. First off was selling the Sony Receiver and the Ps3, and now is changing the LG N1T1 NAS and WD Live Hub for a combined solution.

It will be used for NAS purposes, namely storage / download server, and mediastreaming on our two FULL-HD tv's. Also recording from TV.

Furthermore:
* Mini-Itx - Not a must but size matters Wink
* HDMI - Full HD 1080p playback
* Fast as hell - Hate delays
* Gigabit and Wifi connectivity
* QUIET - It has to be as quiet as possible really
* SSD system harddrive, I have enough storage externally atm
* USB 3.0
* Ability to record from tv. So I guess that is DVB-C here.

a pro would be the ability to install a Slot-in Bluray drive at some point, but that is not a must.

On the other hand I got to admit that im cheap and that I do not want to spend to much. MAX of 350-400$

So far my thoughts are:

well the LG N1T1 that I use now is quiet and and that is not much bigger than 2hardrives. It's just not efficient enough.

Isnt it possible to make a all-in-one with nas capabilities, mediastreaming and PVR?

Yes it is possible, but you can't also have it be small, quiet, inexpensive as you requested.
I agree with Eskro that you want your XBMC frontend separate from your NAS. There are others in the forum that completely disagree and like an all-in-one box. Do some research, this question has been asked (in various forms) hundreds of times in this very sub-forum.

Well I ended up buying a WD TV Live Hub to accompany my LG N1T1 NAS and was excited to play with it - but...

Eventhoguh the WD eats every format I through at it with ease its still just to slow. And I was expecting a better and smoother interface really.

I have revised my requirement to:

- 1080p playback
- smooth fast interface XBMC
- I will be running ubuntu I guess
- I will need to be able to unrar
- Pretty quiet
- Gigabit
- As small as possible. Not that keen on a Big Tower so mini-atx or somewhere in the middle will be fine
- Price: Well I guess 500-600$ I dont mind buying used items.

It would be nice if I could combine PVR abilities.

What hardware would you recommend?

Still I would like to use: ACE Polly Mini Cabinet: http://www.komplett.dk/k/ki.aspx?sku=585396

yes a system which is ready fro xbmc without me having to build first. Like boxee box is ready for boxee software.

I just need a system that will run XBMC smoothly and 1080p playback.

ohhh,,, you mean a pre-built system...

well, there's pre-built systems where you still need to buy and install the RAM and the Hard Drive...

and there's the pre-built systems where all is already included and installed...

which way u wanna go?

and what OS u need to run?
