PAL videos stuttering on PAL Xbox/TV
#46
@vood:

enable the line #autosync=30 (delete the #) of your mplayer.conf
#47
thanks for the reply.

i need to look deeper in the configuration department. do you know of any other possible settings i could try?

the fact that the files play fine in ntsc mode suggests it is not a hardware issue. would attempting to play it on another tv help at all? sorry if this sounds stupid but almost all possibilities have been explored.

hallelujah!!!!!
a fucking miracle!!!!!

smoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth

no more pal stuttering!!!

thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanx a lot a600

i´ve tryed several previosluy stuttering 25 fps divx and now works perfectly in pal Smile

the only side effect is a bit of "turbo" in the first couple of seconds of some avis, but i can live with that if the rest of the movie plays sooooooooo fine.

thanx, thanx, thaaaaaaaanx!!!

lol

great ! Smile

"in xbmc you can trust !"

:fixed:
#50
let me get this right, to fix this problem you need to:

enable the line #autosync=30 (delete the #) of your mplayer.conf

and

set mc=0.001?

or is only one of these settings required?
#51
i changed just the autosync part and it's worked wonders on my movies! no more stuttery panning! :d
#52
what is this autosync=30 actually? and are there downsides to using it, other than the few seconds of out-of-sync? i remember this "feature" has been mentioned some time ago in similar threads...

so the most important question: is this something that should be made default in xbmc?

as the info there says, high quality movies works great with it, low quality movies might have audio/video desync with it enabled.

i have tested from movies, to anime episodes ranging differents codecs and qualitys and i had not any desync problem and everything runs ultrasmooth. i think that option should be default in xbmc, or at least selectable from the configuration menu just in case some movie plays bad with it.

anyway, that option would allow me to finally delete xbmp from my hd Smile

smooooooooooooth lol

surely you're using the pre6 mplayer.dll :

- 28-01-2005 changed: using xbox highresolution timers for timing. possibly better sync.

i think this change is the culprit of those 2 seconds turbo because before the change i never noticed it.
#56
hey guys.

sorry i haven't posted back in a long time.

anyhow i updated to the build from the 2nd feb, and enabled the autosync line.

same as vood, smooooooooth.

i thought i had tried this setting before but obviously i hadn't applied it correctly.

anyway i can live with the 'turbo' if need be, but if anyone can suggest a way to remove it then that would be great (lol don't say to disable autosync)

thanks again.
#57
has a 'fix' been made for this yet?

the autosync workaround is ok, but makes it impossible to rewind, as this causes permanent desynchronization.

but im ok for the time being Smile

i have a problem when i watch movies (xvid, vob, img)
it´s more or less in all my movies (xvid, img, vob, mpg)

when something is moving over the screen (like a car) it´s like xbmc misses some frames (stuttering)..
this problem can be best seen in the aftertext of a movie when the text rolls over the screen.

i have pal television
i have bulid 25feb.
i stream over my network.

i´ve tried enable and disable pal60 (from xbmc and xboxdash)
i´ve tried "adjust framerate"
i´ve tried all "render metods"

this problem started when i switched to xbmc from xbmp..

is this the problem? http://sourceforge.net/tracker....=581838

yes - follow the link given there, and alter your mplayer.conf accordingly.

like this ?

#use mplayers internal highly accurate timers.
softsleep=1

#limit a-v sync correction in order to get smoother playback.
#defaults to 0.01 but for high quality videos 0.0001 results in
#much smoother playback but slow reaction time to fix a-v desynchronization

#mc=0.0001

#smooth out audio driver timer (audio drivers arent perect)
#higher values mean more smoothing, but avoid using numbers too high,
#as they will cause independent timing from the sound card and may result in
#an a-v desync

#added by jm on reports that it improves playback smoothness
#commenting out autosync=30 since it causes issues slowness after pause
autosync=30
framedrop=1
#added by jm on reports that it improves playback smoothness

#default languages for subtitles. not sure this works correctly for vobsubs at the moment.
#removed as it should be implemented in xbmc since we now have name support
#slang=en,fr,de,sv,nl
