fyi, i've learned that not even mplayer for linux/win32 supports aacplus yet :shifty: however thier developers are working on it (with the help of the very latest libfaad2 cvs)

i've been waiting for he-aac (aac+) support for a while now.

and after updating xbmc again (12/18 build), and seeing that no aac streaming stations are working yet, i wondered what was going on?

have people got aac+ streams to work? such as those at m1live.com and somafm.com?

i searched the forums, and this was the most recent topic i found on the subject (and last post was 6 months ago).

is this still broken, or is there a trick to getting this to work?
i looked at the suggestions above, and the wiki, and build i have already seems to have the right dlls and stuff (it plays my m4a files without issue).

thanks,

currently xbmc uses different "players" for streamed media (over internet) and local media.

all internet streaming is handled by mplayer, and that's the culprit in this case.

local file playback is handled by pap

that's the issue at hand.

hi,

a favourite internet radio station of mine has changed their format from mp3 streaming to aacplus streaming (32kbps).

now i am no longer able to playback that internet radio station, because in xbmc i get the normal popup for caching and after that the popup closes and nothing happens.

i searched the manual for aacplus audio playback support in xbmc but found just normal aac support?

is there any chance to playback aacplus internet radio stations in xbmc?

this is the url from the internet radio station:

if you read the section on pap in manual, it's pretty clear it doesn't do streaming.

thus it's up to mplayer, and ours doesnt do aac+, does the pre7 or cvs ?

Quote:- 28-03-2006 added: content-type detection for playercore selection. fixes auto startup of aac+ streams on shoutcast and flv streams on google-video

does this perhaps help us to be able to playback aac+ internet audio streams ?
