Apple TV official new firmware 4.2.2 update released

Is the above pull for nightly builds? It appears that I have installed the stable build for atv2?

Can i install the atv2 from ttp://hadm.net/~keith/xbmc_atv2/latest_atv2.deb on top of what I have installed? Or should I uninstall the earlier version of XBMC using nito tv and then install from ~keith?

You should be able to install over top of it with no problems, but I have had an instance where I had to uninstall first in order to reinstall with the nightly. The link below shows the steps for updating the nightly.

I've had a problem with HDMI passthrough ever since I got an ATV2 but I figured it was my TV. It's connected to my receiver by optical and I do get surround sound. The problem is that the surround sound is "hitchy."

It almost works, but there's this intermittent hitch where every second or so of sound has a quiet glitch. The video is unaffected and the sound almost seems contained to the L and R channels.

I updated to 4.2 (or 4.3 or whatever) and turned on the 16 bit option. But the same hitchy-ness is still there. Since people in this thread seem to be having passthrough problems solved by this update, I figured I'd see if there's some other option I'm missing.

Working HDMI passthrough would mean I could stop manually swapping my optical cable between my TV and my PS3.

Hi All, I just got my first ATV2 yesterday. I am having SOME luck, but not completely - as such, looking for suggestions.

I updated ATV2 through iTunes to 4.2.2. Successfully used Seas0nPass (on windows). Installed XBMC using the instructions here:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Ins...MC_on_ATV2

All appeared to be working great. I added a an SMB/Network source, and it successfully added movies to library (as well as downloaded .nfo goods). BUT none of the movies will play. They are all stored in VIDEO_TS. I have tried in library mode, as well as file mode. AVI files WILL play, but not .ifo files.

Sometimes nothing happens, sometimes I get "Playback Failed - One or more items failed to play." XBMC version is XBMC Pre-10.0 Git:4b032be (Compiled : Feb 19 2011).... seems a bit dated.

I have read some older posts about IFO not being supported... is this still the case?

Thanks!

Think you have to run a nightly build on the any (iOS 4.3) Apple TV OS 4.2, 4.2.1, or 4.2.2 version.

Get icefilms and forget about watching any of your file. Big Grin

Cranial Wrote:Have you edited the Hosts file on your computer at any stage? Perhaps while downgrading your ATV or an iPhone?

Mine had this issue until I changed my Hosts file to allow iTunes to actually contact Apple.

I get the exact same error when trying to update or jailbreak using Seasonpass... Any ideas on what to do... Should i try another jailbreak program? Where can i find the host file to see if something is preventing the update in there?

Right now the ATV2 is jailbroken, but i would like to update to the newest firmware.

All ideas are very welcome.

I installed xbmc on one of my ATV2's using these commands

wget http://hadm.net/~keith/xbmc_atv2/latest_atv2.deb
dpkg -i latest_atv2.deb
apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-seatbeltunlock
apt-get -f install

with no problems. I tried to install it on my second ATV2 over and over again.... with no luck... this is what comes out when I ssh thru terminal....

Renze Wrote:I had the same problem and just ran apt-get -f install and all worked out. Steps are as follows:

wget http://hadm.net/~keith/xbmc_atv2/latest_atv2.deb
dpkg -i latest_atv2.deb
apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-seatbeltunlock
apt-get -f install

All seems to be working well with the audio, but I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing a loud pop sound from the audio when starting a file that is in Dolby.

Pop sound > Static nonetheless

Edited to clarify the steps I used.

Thank you!

I think what made the difference was doing the latest install and then the seatbelt install in a row, right before the -f install. I had been trying the -f install on its own after each error.

Cheers,
