Question
Well, its not really an error - its more of a progress bar box but it never finishes.
Ive hosted the the screenshot of the error that i get here
http://ifile.it/x56t7qm

I have tried to rescrape all my tv shows and movies (via ember),
and cleaning up my library and re-adding them again, but still the same.

I get it when i open the 'movies' and 'tv shows' in the main menu.
I don't get it though when i select the 'HD movies'.(night skin has this)

I hope someone can help me, ive been workin on this for hours and its driving me nuts!Eek

I'm using ver 10.1
windows 7 64bit
night skin

I should maybe posting an error log of some sort but I'm a newbie i that area. don't know how to create it.

thanks!

To post a log file turn on debug logging (Settings | System | Debugging) and try to load the directory. The debug log will be in %appdata%\XBMC\XBMC.log This directory is hidden by default.

It might be a bit easier if you post your images to photobucket or similar where you can just provide a URL to the actual image or embed the image in the post.

Thanks for the advice ill give that a try tonight when i get home.

OK, here is my screenshot, took this with my cellphone.

So far, i realized that the options that i haven't tried yet are:
changing skins,
reinstalling back to ver 10.0 again (as i didn't have this issue before)

thanks!

probably clutching at straws here but in addition to your ideas maybe removing the source, cleaning the library and readding source?

What is the source anyway? What is a videodb:// ??

After speding hours of trying to eliminate the issue, i think i figured out the problem.

i get the issue only when my htpc is NOT CONNECTED to the internet.
- when the wifi dongle is plugged in i dont get the prompt when i enter the library mode.
- this is regardless of how many movies are loaded in the library ( i actually tried just 1 movie and scraped it by xbmc and not ember - and i still got the error after restarting the system without internet)..

Is there like an offline mode in XBMC that i need to disable somewhere?

Just scraping my new videos with ember elsewhere and simply loading it in my no-internet xbmc my goal.

I hope there is a workaround of some sort that i can try. TIA!

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I am also experiencing this.
The problem occurs when the wifi-dongle is not connected, just like "ultramanxp" wrote.

Any ideas of what is causing this problem?

hey man, my workaround is either i keep the WiFi dongle on or enable the built in nic card in you BIOS for your mobo (or device manager or where ever it is disabled at). There's gotta be at least one nic present or you'll get the error. I actually realized this on another thread, i think they also logged a bug.

Hope this helps!

I can now confirm that this works! Thanks!

Sorry if this thread is old, but its still a problem in XBMC 11 Eden.

The only way to fix this is by turn on the network, it seems.
I cant enable any nic card in BIOS or something on my Asus 1225B.
Im using my laptop as a HTPC, but what happens if i want to take my laptop with me and want to use xbmc, then i have to cancel the loading-screen everytime, very annoying.

I would also be interested to know if there is a fix or workaround for this.
Will XBMC only launch if internet is available Huh?!
Last night we lost internet for 6 hours.
Initially we did not worry about it as we thought we could simply power up XBMC and watch our local content.
No such luck.
It just sits with the XBMC logo on the screen forever.

Can anyone shed any light on this ?
There should not be any dependencies on an internet connection.
--> Mac Mini 2010, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, OSX Lion, XBMC Frodo 12.3
--> Pivos XIOS DS M3 w/Linux XBMC Frodo 12.2
--> Central MySQL database on a LenovoEMC px12-450r via Debian Wheezy VM

XBMC should work just fine without an internet connection (at least it does on all my setups). We need debug logs (wiki) to figure out what's going on here.

I've read the debug logs link, but dont really understand how to do it.
Can you please explain how to send a log report to you easily, thanks ??

I solved this issue on Raspberry Pi with a home-made RJ-45 loopback cable.
You can re-use an old Ethernet cable following the next diagram:
