XBMC on the Sony Dash Internet Viewer
#1
It would be nice to have XBMC on the Sony Dash Internet Viewer. It has a 7" wide screen, Stereo Speakers, Wi-Fi, supports DivX (just rename .avi to .mp4), have a USB host (ideal for installs and media). Does NOT have DLNA Sad

The Sony Dash + XBMC + Livestreams = Live Internet TV

500MHz mips... smells like a sigma SoC.

Not sure about its components, but it has a Chumby OS.

I'm very willing to wipe out its Chumby and replacing it with XBMC. Hope this is feasible.

Chumby wiki says most are Arm based however via their forums it sounds like the Sony version is closed off unlike the other Chumby devices.

OK, forget about the Song Dash, what about the Insignia Infocast Internet Media Display?

The Freescale Arm SoC that powers it lacks an OpenGL ES class GPU plus XBMC has not been ported to Freescale Arm so it simply couldn't happen.

MeeGo tablets aren't too far away and XBMC already runs under MeeGo at least the x86 version of MeeGo, Arm version of MeeGo I couldn't say. Might be worth waiting to see what comes along.

Not so much Nokia but others like here is Acer's Iconia M500 running MeeGo as an example, there are saying towards end of the year it may go on sale.

It looks like someone has even gotten XBMC running on Arm version of MeeGo too.
