How can I run XBMC-PVR alongside XBMC live? (re: ppa)

I've installed XBMC 10.1 (Dharma) using the PPA package under Ubuntu 10.10.

If I want to test out the PVR branch, I know I need to compile it (which isn't a problem) but how can I run the stable release (from the PPA package) alongside the PVR release?

Is this possible?

You don't need to compile it, install it.

Thanks! However, I'm wondering if it's possible to install both versions side-by-side... (ie. Dharma plus Eden-PVR, etc)

your dbs (music, video) won't be in sync because the db layouts are different.

Found a problem with PVR? Report it on Trac, under "PVR - core components". Please attach the full debug log.

Couldn't I run them each in portable mode?

like I said, they won't be in sync. so if you add something to your library in dharma, it won't be there in pvr/eden (and the other way around)
