XB Fish Summary (Mascot Contest)

I know its after the deadline but somehow when editing I managed to delete my entire final post in the Mascot contest. There are no new entries, this was just going to be a summary of all the designs i made so far.

I was up all night putting these together and wanted to jump off the roof when i woke up and realized i somehow deleted the post, and that the thread was closed.

.....If this thread is against the rules of the contest I would ask that voters not read past this point. And if it is against the rules that the thread be deleted......


Here are all of my entries in the contest so far

The original concept of this mascot came from trying to design a new XBMC logo. While i was able to get the XB part of the logo to look good by merging the two letters X and B together, Trying to get the MC part in the same style didnt work, it made the logo look unbalanced and bulky. But i did notice that the combined X and B did kind of resemble a fish but never thought to do anything with it.

Then when the team said they were looking for a mascot i realized that my failed logo attempt would translate well into a mascot because it would almost match the XB part of the logo. And once i stoped trying to crowbar the MC part of the logo in, and just use plain text either MC or Media Center, i saw they would work well together.


The mascot isn't very polished as far as shading and coloring go (mostly due to my limited abilities in Photoshop), but i chose not to give it details like fins, scales, or eyeballs to avoid making look like a Cartoon mascot. But instead keep it clean and sleek so it would better fit with the overall feeling of xbmc ( ex. Alaska , Aeon , Confluence ...).

BTW what's with all the jagged edges?

Yes Japaja you can use it, and the jaged edges I think come from it not being designed with vectors, I only own Photoshop and dont have access to Illustrator or any other software that I could design it using vector GFX.
If you or anyone else knows a way to get sharper lines in Photoshop i will try and make a new one.

Even when resizing raster graphics I don't think it would look like that, anyway couldn't u use Inkscape?
Oh and what's the name of font u used?

Just wanted to tell you that this is the best logo I have ever seen for xbmc! it looks classy and looks like it deserves to have the xbmc name on it. I really wish this was the actual logo! Great job on it

^^ I agree. Fantastic logo. Would love some higher res versions for backdrop use etc.

Thanks for the comments, if you or anyone from the skinning community, or the xbmc team would like to use my logo I will leave a link to an un-rasterized .PSD of it.

It would be pretty cool if it did become the actual logo.
