Which DV card to use in China
#1
Hi All,

I am very new to using digital tv with computers, so please excuse my lack of knowledge!

I am living in China, and want to get rid of my stand alone digital cable TV box.
Would be nice to record TV, but not essential as there is really not that much to watch here!

There seems to be so many cards on the market, I only have a cable TV feed, no satellite.
Can someone give me some pointers as I would like to buy a TV card this weekend.

Will I need to do any signal decoding, or require any special software for it work with XBMC?

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Spec :

GIGABYTE GA-MA78LMT-S2 AM3 Micro-ATX
AMD Athlon X2 240 2.9GHz Dual-Core AM3 65W
GT520 1GB 64bit Fanless GFX Card
4GB DDR3 1333MHz
8GB SSD
1TB Sata drive
Ubuntu 11.04

have a look at linuxtv.org for supported cards: http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-C_PCI_Cards
opdenkamp / dushmaniac

xbmc-pvr [Eden-PVR builds] [now included in mainline XBMC, so no more source link here :)]
personal website: [link]

Found a problem with PVR? Report it on Trac, under "PVR - core components". Please attach the full debug log.

If you like my work, please consider donating to me and/or Team XBMC.
