Hi All,
This newbee just heared from this great media center and encountered a strange problem. I installed xbmc (2 times: second time to check if there were issues with the previous installation) and when I hit the XBMC.exe, I get a black screen with an error message: CApplication::Create() failed - check log file and that it is readable. does anybody know how to fix this?  thx nicolas |

The most common reason for this is not installing the proper video drivers. For example if you have an NVIDIA card and do a normal Win7 install it will install the MS video drivers not the NVIDIA drivers, and XBMC won't work.
If you provide a debug log this will help pin down the problem. Press Windows-R and in the Run dialog type: "%appdata%\xbmc\xbmc.log" and click OK and the log will open in Notepad. Copy and paste it into pastebin.com and post the link here. JR JR |
