I have a potential problem, but because I do not 100% understand techniques behind colorspaces, I don't know if it's an issue or not.
Problem is, the Benq W9000 only supports 16-235 when using HDMI. There is no way to set it to 0-255.
If I set the ATI driver to RGB limited 16-235 4:4:4 everything appears ok. If I use 0-255 it crushes black which is understandable.
So... Everything should be fine right? Except I keep reading that XBMC only outputs at 0-255. How come my pictures looks great using 16-235 then? Is it the ATI driver that converts it back to 16-235 or am I indeed missing some color details?
Config:
ATI 3850HD connected to Benq W9000 with HDMI
Windows 7
XBMC 10.1
I should just be happy, but I hate thinking that I could have an even better picture than what I have now if something is indeed wrong with my settings :-)
[WINDOWS] Colorspace 16-235

Hi
From my Point of view, your setup is ok and you will not miss anything. To read a bit more about that, check this article about Colorspaces... Also a good hint there, how to check.. My Equipment: HTPC (i7 Ivy 3.5 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) with current Frodo Beta 1, Onkyo TX-NR818, Samsung UE55ES8000, Teufel Theater LT-5, Panasonic DMP-BDT500, Toshiba HD-X1 HDD DVD, Synology DS1511+ (5x2 TB, 5x3 TB in RAID5+) |
