"Album view" smart playlist?
#1
Hi -

Is it possible to construct a smart playlist (for music) that returns a collection of albums as opposed to a collection of songs?

A concrete example of what I'm talking about: I have a collection of live concerts. These are tagged with "concert" in the comment field. If I want to listen to a live concert, I can create a smart playlist that will give me a list of all the songs in all the concerts. But what I really want is to be able to navigate the search results on a concert-by-concert (or "album by album") basis, and then play all the files within that concert.

To an extent this falls under the heading of "custom views for playlist results". Is anything like that possible?

Thanks in advance!

Yes - the smartplaylist editor has "Albums" as a type.

Thanks jmarshall. That works perfectly.

I read the wiki, which specified "music, video or mixed" as smartplaylist types, but didn't try clicking through the gui!

Apologies for what turned out to be a dumb question.
