[AppleTv] Playing 60 fps files with CrystalHD
#1
I just recently got a second hand camcorder from ebay that I plan to use for underwater videography
The Sanyo can aquire at 1080p60 as well as 1080i60 1080p and 720p
The files at 1080p60 show as 24 mbits level 4.2 profile main however do not play on the AppleTv even in Ubuntu
Which makes me think more than CrystalHD there is a problem with the PCI bus or some other transfer rate type of problem as I play the file from an USB 2 drive 7200 which can definitely serve them quick
Looking at x264 specs I see level 3.2 supports 720p60 with max 5 reference frames so I was thinking of scaling them down and compressing with high profile.
Can those files be played with AppleTv in OSX with CrystalHD?
What are the maximum values for VBV buffer and maxrate that CrystalHD can support in OSX or Ubuntu so that it does not choke?
If anyone has any experience I can spare some weeks of trial and error
Thanks

PS Davilla if you have the answer I would appreciate

1080p60 is pushing the 1X pci-e pretty hard. I'm not sure has the bandwidth.

That's what I thought too
I will try an [email protected] and downscale to 1280x720 with the bcm70015
Any particular reason this would not play in OSX such as other hardware limitations?
I would prefer to avoid ubuntu for this if possible

OK so we get the usual adding new buffer

No other error messages or notices. The framerate stays at best at 30fps

Should I take it this is the end of the line?

Interesting news Davilla
If I resize to 960x540 at 60 fps the files play OK in OSX but in Ubuntu the fps stays at 30 fps
