Does twit work on non-AE builds?

keith Wrote:Does twit work on non-AE builds?

It does. It works on the latest stable 10-8. What I've been doing is uninstalling XBMC (using NitoTV) and re-installing XBMC 10-8 (also using NitoTV). Then TWIT works.

It did work once. What I'm wondering is ... perhaps I need to delete the guisettings.xml, in order to get it work? That seems to fix menu sounds, etc. Perhaps it will fix TWIT .. I will try later tonight, with the latest AE build.

What I've been trying to do is uninstall XBMC 10-8, then install the latest AE nightly, so that I start "clean", as it were. But I don't always delete guisettings.xml when I do this. I will make it a point to delete guisettings.xml each time (which is a pain, since I need to set zoom to -4%, else it's too big for my 46in screen, and the edges get cut off).

i have the same issue with picture being too big for my 43" TV
zoom -4% makes things smaller; instead I go to video calibration where you can adjust corners. it takes longer than zoom, but i don't end up squinting
BTW this is not AE related, i had this issue with older and recent nightlies too

Huh. I will have to try that method instead. Didn't know that, thanks!

Just updated and showing same build as yesterday...
XMBC PRE-11.0 Git:20110622-d4c956b (Compiled : Jun 23 2011)
Used http://hadm.net/xbmc/ae/

Doesnt seem to be any changes?

I just didn't update the build number. The banaries are new, trust me Wink
- Tested using following configuration:
ATV2 4.2.2 (2203)
XBMC PRE-11.0 Git:20110622-d4c956b (Compiled: Jun 23 2011)
ATV2 connected via optical & HMDI to Onkyo PR-SC5508 Preamp
Onkyo PR-SC5508 connected via XLR to Onkyo PA-MC5500
Display output via HDMI to Samsung PN64D8000
Forced 16bit in ATV2 settings
XBMC Audio Settings - 7.1 / AC3 / DTS
XBMC input set to Harmony

Initial reaction to this build (Overall similar to yesterday's build)
- Navigation is improved greatly in response
- Same issue when scanning library (attempted Force Refresh no luck)
- randomitems.py script failure to load on launch (on any skin)

Loaded .mkv / DTS / 5.1
- Noticed initial loud POP when preamp switches to DTS, this is also there in the semi-nightly build as well... Only experienced when using ATV2 XBMC though, the POP cannot be reproduced on any other source
- Great Picture & Sound
- Fast Loading

Loaded xvid (.avi) / DD (AC3) / 5.1
- Experienced low frame rates (stuttered visually)

Loaded .mkv / DTS / 5.1
- Loaded this to test the loud POP and when switching to DTS it was experienced with this file as well

Loaded .mp4 / DD (AAC) / 5.1
- This file got downmixed and the stream was PCM 2.0
- With build NON-AE 20110618-eedceeb (Compiled : Jun 18 2011) (unofficial) audio is correctly transmitted as DD 5.1
- I did notice in the log that AAC is not enabled for passthrough not sure if this relevant or a known issue

Sounds like you need to turn off overscan for that input on your TV. In some TVs, it is done by labeling that input as "PC".

Cheers,

jason

Same problems as always for me - MP3, FLAC, 2 ch stereo TV episode, 5.1 TV episode, DTS movie, Fox News video add-on - all sound perfect.

TWIT video add-on - dead silence. No change at all.

EDIT: I installed the latest non-AE nightly (Git:20110618-eedceeb Compiled: Jun 18 2011), and TWIT audio is perfect. Dunno what the AE code is doing, but it consistently breaks TWIT audio. Perhaps it's something about streaming from BitGravity and the AE code? Don't know.
Once again with the new build... only clicking sound with AC3/DTS.

(That log starts out with passthrough disabled, but I enabled it while in the settings.)

no overscan function on my TV, but I was able to fix by switching Screen Size from default 16:9 to Screen Fit

What happened to the Web interface to XBMC? Can't seem to find it in the menus... was nice controlling XBMC from my Android phone...
Very very slow movie start time and lots of audio errors.
Loading a movie takes around 20 seconds from a SMB attached NAS (cable attached, 1Gb)

My setup:
AppleTV2 connected to Sumsung TV via HDMI.
TV playing audio and video; so not tuner. Basic 2.0 setup.

XBMC: Built on Jun 24 2011 (Git:20110622-d4c956b)
IOS: 4.1.1

Slow loading movies
Most of the slowdown is caused by loading the UI sounds over and over (10 seconds loading click.wav)
