problem when playing AVI files
#1
I have and ATV2 running the latest version of iOS / XBMC (installed following XBMC project wiki) and basically when watching a AVI file; everything goes fine for the fisrt 10-15 minutes and suddenly XBMC reboots. It happen always in exactly the same minute/sec of the AVI file and in all AVI files i have tested (at least 10). Any idea about how to solve this?

1) read FAQ.
2) post xbmc.log so we can tell which of the many versions of XBMC you might be using.
3) read FAQ.

Especially the part of the iOS FAQ (wiki) about common crashes and fixes.

I read already all the FAQ, even before posting. Nothing there.

Starting XBMC (11.0 Git:20120331-ebfd899), Platform: Darwin iOS (11.0.0 AppleTV2,1, Version 5.1.1 (Build 9B830)). Built on Apr 1 2012

The below is what I got when playing AVI files (700MB or biggers) immediately before that XBMC crashes.

I have quite a few AVIs where that happens. My guess is they're malformed somehow. I just try to avoid them.

How do you play AVI files on the apple TV? Can you just ssh the files into the apple tv and watch it with xbmc? If so where do you ssh in to?

all AVI files are hosted in my Home NAS (synology) as well the rest of the file I play with XBMC from ATV2...
one more thing, if I play the same files by using my laptop (XBMC) instead the ATV2 - XBMC I had no issues at all...

What I did to solve this issue with problematic AVI files was to convert them with Media Coder - iPhone edition to their default Apple TV format.

Scratch that. I just updated to the latest nightly and all the AVI file I had problems with seem to play fine.
