iPad issue with total videos vs movies

I'm getting some conflicting totals. On my source I have on my old xbox it totals 1071. On my iPad source I created getting from same server it shows the same 1071 but using the home screen movies it shows 1059. Any ideas why? I did not set up the movies, just video. Movies on main screen did it's own thing. Confused

Additionally, with my video source for movies, it does not show it in list format but instead the cover art where it goes right to left like flipping thru cover art. I forget what that is called. But I want to get it back to list view. How?
