New build, color all wrong.

AFAICT, you have color problems before XBMC jumps in. Look at a upper left on boot screen (Award logo) - it looks like it's tinted with red. What happens if you hit DEL while boot? Does it give you correct blue BIOS screen?

I'd said it either your cables or video card.

BTW, I might be wrong but I do not think you will be able to achieve satisfactory 1080p reproduction on a 6 year old MB and NVidia 6200.

Perfect blue. Might want to check your monitor.

Just going with what the the XBMC wiki states.

Stu... using X3lectric's xorg.conf could please change this part:

Code:
Section "Screen"
        Identifier "screen"
        Device "nvidia"
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
            Option "ColorSpace" "YCbCr444"
            Depth 24
            Modes "1920x1080_60_0" "1920x1080_24"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

To look like this:

Code:
Section "Screen"
        Identifier "screen"
        Device "nvidia"
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
            [color=red]Viewport   0 0[/color]
            Option "ColorSpace" "YCbCr444"
            Depth 24
            Modes "1920x1080_60_0" "1920x1080_24"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

Then reboot.

That should make XBMC go full screen

The only thing I added was the viewport... which should make XBMC go full screen. I got the info from here

And also please post the output of this command:

Code:
lsmod

Thanks.

I think stu's TV is only 720p not 1080p hence why it wont do more than what it displays. But Im slightly more concerned with the blue tint which is clear on both TV and projector.

I assure you both devices are capable of full 1080p but of course can only do 1080i because of using component cables.

projector...
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/P...V11H373120
wanted to make sure full 1080p especially when projected onto a 108" viewing angle screen.

TV

Full 1080p capable. Not sure if Samsung even makes a 55" that is not 1080P.

I appreciate the help that is coming at me. I think I might step back and install Windows or try Ubuntu to see if I get the same results. I will report back soon.

Stu, I think the reason you are getting a blue screen is because the drivers are outputting a composite signal through the component cables. Please read this post.

Also see this wiki article

Your xorg.conf needs to be rewritten. Things like UseDisplayDevice should be set to "TV-0", DFP-1 is for DVI and HDMI.

Is there a way you can use HDMI/DVI cables to see if it resolves the issue? your already using ubuntu in a scaled down and heavily customized way.

Microsoft windows? Whats that?

Trying not to spend any more money on this. Thurbs said he has an AGP card with an HDMI out on the first page of this thread that they would sell it to me. After getting this video issue fixed I am going to have to work on the audio as well.

If I knew for certain that the card would work with XBMC and do audio and video both I might jump on it. Anyone know? It's a ASUS AH3450 512M.

jawilljr, tanks for the tip. You are probably right.

If thats the card DONT GET IT

If you think you have problems now, wait until you try that card. Then again I wish you good luck if you do get it.

If you really on a budget try componet to hdmi cable or a converter, converters cost a little more but what you spend in money saves you in time/sanity...

a cable can be sent back if not suitable or resolve problem, so can the converter

cable http://goo.gl/QIKJ2

converters prolly better...

in Hindsight perhaps try modifying the xorg to your card component to fix the issue.

Code:
Section "Monitor"
    Identifier     "TV[1]"
DisplaySize     414    316  #measurements in mm ###change this as well to match your TV
    HorizSync       30.0 - 50.0
    VertRefresh     59.0 - 61.0
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier     "Screen[1]"
    Device         "NVIDIA 6200[1]"
    Monitor        "TV[1]"
   DefaultDepth    24
    Option         "NoLogo"
    #Available component video modes:

    SubSection     "Display"
        Depth       24
        Modes      "1920x1080"
    EndSubSection
EndSection

this is based on the ubuntu post and not a full xorg.conf

Its something you have to put together yourself using some simple logic, its late, Agin Im not sleeping and my brain is mashed up.
