#1
Are there any plans to support vdpau feature set D in XBMC so that it can decode 4k videos via vdpau?

You should buy a DEV a GT520 card and a screen capable of displaying 4K. I think this feature would be implemented very quickly.

And some 4k content worth watching. That may prove the sticking point!
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

XBMC does not limit the size. We query vdpau for max width/height. Afaik GT630 is only feature set C and according to this wiki page you need D: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_Pure...ture_Set_C

According to that wiki page, 630 has D, however (vdpauinfo):

Code:
Decoder capabilities:

name               level macbs width height
-------------------------------------------
MPEG1                 0  8192  2048  2048
MPEG2_SIMPLE          3  8192  2048  2048
MPEG2_MAIN            3  8192  2048  2048
H264_MAIN            41  8192  2048  2048
H264_HIGH            41  8192  2048  2048
VC1_SIMPLE            1  8190  2048  2048
VC1_MAIN              2  8190  2048  2048
VC1_ADVANCED          4  8190  2048  2048
MPEG4_PART2_SP        3  8192  2048  2048
MPEG4_PART2_ASP       5  8192  2048  2048
DIVX4_QMOBILE         0  8192  2048  2048
DIVX4_MOBILE          0  8192  2048  2048
DIVX4_HOME_THEATER    0  8192  2048  2048
DIVX4_HD_1080P        0  8192  2048  2048
DIVX5_QMOBILE         0  8192  2048  2048
DIVX5_MOBILE          0  8192  2048  2048
DIVX5_HOME_THEATER    0  8192  2048  2048
DIVX5_HD_1080P        0  8192  2048  2048

So it seems 2048x2048 is max (if I understand it correctly)

There are 3 different 630s. You seem to have the 40nm GF108 version, which has feature set C.

Do you know any gpu that supports h265? 4k DCI/15 Mbps and h265 seems to be too much for my core i7. Strange.

There was an article on phoronix which said nvidia had support on some of their newer cards. Sorry I can't find it right now. Is Maxwell a recent nvidia chipset?

None yet. Latest are first-generation Maxwell PureVideo core which only support "Feature Set E", .a.k.a. VDPAU Feature Set E.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_PureVideo

They say that the second-generation Maxwell PureVideo core will support "Feature Set G" which will add HEVC / H.265 support
