I'm having problems with the dns
#1
i am having a problem with the dns in xbmc. i can ftp into my xbox using xbmc. but thats about it. if i try to run a script and it doesnt work, and i decide to check the log file, everything is always dns error. some sort of dns error everytime. here are just a few examples:

error unable to connect to http://www.xbox-scene.com: 11001
error dns lookup for http://www.apple.com failed: 10060
error dns lookup for http://www.gamespot.com failed: 10060
error dns lookup for news.bbc.co.uk failed: 10060

are there any tips to help set this up. i have tried to go in and manually type in my own dns address in my network connections in windows and then i'd go in and manually type that same adress in xbmc. no go. what steps should i take to correct this?

u need to add dns to the configuration i xbmc. press settings in xbmc and press network config or something like that. set up the ip to the dns of you're isp. (often found on their webpage)

now everything should work!

if this doesn't work, try to fill name server in xbmc with your pc (or router) ip adress, and make sure your pc (or router) is set to get dns from isp and to share dns on the lan

i got it to working and working quite well at that. my problem was a dns problem and i thank you guys for the help. but there was also one tine little thing that i forgot to do, nothing major ya know. i didnt have internet sharing enabled on my internet. i had it enabled on my nic card. i use a dual nic card setup. but instead of having the actual internet shared, i enabled it on the second nic. so it wouldnt work. soon as i did that and then started xbmc, i got the scrolling marquee at the top with the latest info on xbox 2 news. i'm quite satisfied. thanx fellas.
