Unraid build list (UK)
#1
Hi,

I am trying to follow Eskro's unraid building guide - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=8...post827661

I'm having a little trouble finding some of the parts in the UK. I have to get the parts from Scan as I am using their finance deal.

The below screenshot link shows the parts I have found so far on Scan. Can anyone help me find the remaining parts?

http://www.brokenbrolly.com/clients/unraid.jpg

Items remaining:
  • Motherboard - I can't find the same model number that Eskro has so something similar
  • Memory - Either 2gb or 4gb - I am looking at using Sickbeard & SABnzbd
  • Molex To 3-Molex Power Connector Cables
  • Molex To 4-SATA Power Connector cables
  • 2 Port PCI-Express Sata-II Card
  • 5 bay SATA / SAS hot swap similar to the Norco one
  • 1 Port PCI Sata-II Card

Any help would be really appreciated

I needed to get my parts from Scan but after a lot of searching I could not find them on the site so I ended up having to get them from elsewhere.

Hi T800,

Thanks for the response, did you build a similar spec unraid server then? If so where did you get your parts? Would it be possible to list the parts you bought?

No problem. Other than the case and RAM it's the same.

These are from Scan

[*]Molex To 4-SATA Power Connector cables

[*]Motherboard - Eskro advised me of this one:

[*]Memory

I didn't get this one, I got the 1GB version.

Cheers for that mate. How many hard drives do you use in your server currently out of interest?

I think I read somewhere that motherboard won't hold as many as the one Eskro has originally in his build?

Have you used any of the hot swap caddys? Again I can't find the same ones on scan and was wondering if you bought any in the UK you can recommend?

That's right but I couldn't find the motherboard in the UK and I wanted to get on with the build.

It should do me for the time being. My case can only hold up to 16 HDD's if I get 2 x 2 5.25 bays to 3 3.5 bay caddies.

At the moment I have 4 x 2TB drives in there. Once it's up and running and full I will expand to another 4 x 2TB and then see from there.

Hi T800,

Which fans did you use for your server?

The case came with fans.

If you are only looking for 5 bays then why not look at the HP Micro Server.
With £100 cash back it’s a very nice buy. I have one running with 5 disks and its brilliant.
