People talk a lot about issue of samba and but there is no sticky with any solution. Apple tv has 8gb drive. Can't xbmc have code to buffer file to hd before it start playing ? It is the chip limited to mp4 only or is this ios configuration issue. My avi movies play fine no issues over 5ghz wireless network. Live tv in SD works great. My laptop can play my 17GB to 27GB blurey rips no problem over same wireless network but apple tv 2 is realy slow at playing them. I have mp4 blurey rip that plays perfect. So transcoding the files on fly using upnp server is the only option ?

1. Because most people have no issues with SMB/samba on the ATV2
2. I believe cache can be manually increased by changing/creating advancedsettings.xml ( http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Adv...network.3E )
3. The GPU can decode h.264 in any media container, not just .mp4
4. Have you tried a wired connection? What is the Media Info on the files that have problems? ( http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en )

I checked that link, I'm not sure how much memory the ipad has available and how xbmc accesses that memory. would I be safe to increase that size?

Ultimately I want stream 720 video from my nas.... and of course, as soon as i start to type this, the skipping stops and everything goes well.

i'll keep you posted if anything changes... until then, i guess i'm hitting enter for validation and this could help someone else out.
