First HTPC out of ex gaming machine.

Hey guys, I just created a user in this forum after reading a few things to get the basic idea on how to do things Big Grin

I actually want to built my first HTPC out of an old gaming computer that I have, this is what I have at the moment.

Motherboard: FOXCONN Destroyer http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/mo...-us0000400
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 2.5Ghz
RAM: 4GB Kingston HyperX DDR2-1066
PSU: ANTEC Trio 650W
GPU: GeForce GTX 9800+ I actually don't want to use this one because, it's pretty noisy, so I will try to get a ATI HD5450 1GB DDR3

There are a few things that I need to get to complete the entire project but my question right now is, what would be the best case for this? I'm sure that with that new videocard, I would be saving a whole lot of space but still, I feel that whatever I get is going to end up being a rather large case.

Would you guys recommend to continue with these parts or to start from scratch?

Yes, I've read a few posts but I am still, in general, a little ignorant in the whole subject. Rofl

Thanks!

your "old" gaimg rig might consume too much power when used solely as HTPC; XBMC works with much "slower" and more efficient hardware
OpenElec Standalone --> Asus Chromebox 'Panther' --> Onkyo TX-NR709 --> Sony 55" X85C Android TV (also with Kodi!)
Asus Chromebox EZ Script
Kodi on Sony Bravia Android TVs

Hey thanks for the tip Smile In truth, I would definitely like to get a smaller motherboard and see to fit the rest in it. Not to mention the possibility of changing the PSU as well.

Cheers!

Do yourself a favor and part the gaming PC out on Hardforums.com and buy a new PC for a HTPC. You will make cash on the deal and use less power.
