uPnP client does only see empty media folder, e.g. music artist, ...

Hiya,

I have xbmc (version 2:10.1~ppa1~maverick) on linux ubuntu 10.10, uPnP activated. The client (a internetradio box, medion) recognizes xbmc very well and also the different folders for music and video, but they are all empty, e.g. artist, album, playlist, ...
With rhythmbox I don't have problems to share my music over uPnP and the same server, but it only gives you the choice of artist and album folder.

Similar problems I guess, but in the mac forum:

I hope somebody can fix this. Or does anybody know how to back down to v9 of xbmc on the server side (somebody mention this).

Have you scanned your media into the library? The XBMC uPnP server only shares media from the library.

Hi JR,

Thanks a lot for the quick and very useful hint. The scanning of the library is a bit hidden in the right-click menu ... (second last "scan item to library"), so I have not found it at first. Or there might be another way I have not seen. I thought it would be enough to add a source and xbmc would do the rest. But I am glad that it was that easy!

Is there any possibility that you can share playlists?

Thanks again!

A quick way to scan into the library is to use the context menu. Highlight the source and press C on the keyboard. Choose Set Content from the context menu, fill in the details and click OK, and XBMC should ask if you want to scan now.

I don't think you can share playlists over uPnP, if that's what you were asking.
