Issue with Streaming 720p HD Video .... some help please ...

Hi

My first post here - GREAT program. My hardware setup is:-

- Asus E350 mi-DLX AMD Fusion MB
- 8 GB Gskill 7/7/7 DDR3
- OCz Agility 60gb SSD
- Windows 7 X64 SP1
- Cable Internet running at ~ 80 Mbitps <-> ~ 95 Mbitps [ 10 <-> 12 MB ps ]
- Cat 6 Cable connection from Modem to PC via Gigabit
- XBMC Dharma 10.1
- system runs 10.1 *beautifully*

My Problem ?

If say I am using IceFilms, the DVD Video streams flawlessy.

However, 720p HD Streaming encounters a lot of buffering - usually re-buffering every 3 or 4 minutes.

Given I have a very quick connection and plenty of bandwidth - at my end at least - are there any particular settings I can change to help improve my streaming of 720p HD video ?

Many thanks,
Ben

If the bottleneck is somewhere in the Internet there's not a lot you can do.

Someone hereabouts came up with the idea of installing SQUID and using it as a proxy. Because you can control the caching in SQUID you can make it use as large a buffer as you want. The downside is that it takes a while for the stream to start playing while it initially buffers. Also SQUID is far from the easiest software to configure.
