I'm not perfectly sure if this is the right thread - but I think it would be a good idea to update the used libdvdnav to the current version.

As far as I can see XBMC is currently using 4.1.3 dated 2008! and as the most recent version 4.2.1 is from december 2013 it would make sense to get the update (and the news on http://dvdnav.mplayerhq.hu/ say that it's mostly bugfixes - so I think an update shouldn't break anything but just make dvd playback more reliable

Your on a old XBMC. Current is 4.2.0

In any case such updates wont be done anytime soon, maybe after Gotham is tagged/branched and also unless you submit a PR with patches and fixes etc.

And updating always breaks stuff, shouldn't is a uninformed comment, since it has to be modified to work with XBMC, it actually did break when it was upgraded to 4.2.0
