XBMC VmWare7 Video playback
#1
Hi,

I am playing around a bit with xbmc and I installed it via VMWare Workstation 7 on a Windows 32 Bit guest os.

When I start the playback I just get a distorted screen showing the footage between green lines (quite hard to explain).

When installing xbmc to my "normal" system (Win 7 64bit)everything works fine.

I'd really likt to test it on my virtual machine but the playback seems not to be working.

Is there a workaround for that? Might have something to do with the graphics card ?

Regards....

Set render method to software, that's probably the most compatible with vmware.

Why do you want to run XBMC in a VM? XBMC can be run portable (no installed required) so using a VM for it provides zero benefit and more work then needed.
I'm not an expert but I play one at work.

Hey,

setting to render mode did it. Thanks !!

Didn't know that its also possible to run it portable. Gonna pack it on my usb stick tomorrow because I wanna try my Digital Devices S2 DVBS Card to set it up with it.

In case that XBMC is playing my BlueRays (mkv) and the tv program perfectly I directly move away from Media Center (which starts pi**ing me off Smile )...

Thanks and regards...
