Hi there!

A while ago my XBMC stopped playing back files from archives. When I try to play a movie from a rar it says WORKING but nothing happens, the only way is to kill XBMC process.

I tried installing a latest nightly from a scratch, but the very same thing happens. It just doesnt play from rars anymore..

Any ideas? I'd be very thankful for ANY ideas!

I have the same problem. But it seems to work if you try to start it several times from "File" mode.

I can't seem to reproduce this problem (but I'm just opening a movie that's packed in a rar from the Video->Files menu).

Can you tell me what you're doing to get this?

Actually, I'm on Linux. I'll try this on Windows when I get a chance (I'm travelling so it might not be until next week).

i had the same problem windows 7 and the last buil , only happend with some videos others open normal

I tried todays build but it is still the same problem. If needed I can provide a log.

anyone find a solution to this? I'm actually on Eden Beta 2, and my system all of the sudden is not even showing content for newly added shows. Just displays an empty folder (where the rar files are actually located if I navigate to the path using explorer)

Its as if it is ignoring that they exist.

I'm running on an Openelec nightly.. and I have the same issue.
I run a central MYSQL DB and with my DB updated using an older verison it added my rar'd movies fine, and they still work in a new version. I have now upgrade to build 9902 and the rar'd archives that were added to the DB prior to the upgrade work. But for any new archive, it won't open or read it

I don't havet he exact log with me, but it was stating that the rar was corrupt, even though it's not, and when I unrar the file it works fine

Makes perfect sense. Will try tonight and let you know. At the moment it appears to be any rar'd archive not already added to my MYSQL db

Please ignore my ranting... after enabling debug logging I can now see the error with permissions.. turns out my NAS was playing silly buggers.. but letting me watch unrar'd mkvs from the same folder as the rar'd archive.. doesn't mae sense.. but resetting alll permissions has fixed isue for me anyway
