Because XBMC is set to be run as a shell under Windows 7, I can't have any other application to launch on startup, since it's explorer.exe that usually takes care of it. I need Skype to be launched when the HTPC boots up.
Is there a way around this? Maybe another application that could be run as a shell then is set to run XBMC and Skype, or a XBMC addon that would automatically launch Skype when XBMC starts?

What about starting Windows normally and launching Skype and XBMC as startup programs?

I like having it that way, more like kiosk mode. I want the user to be locked in XBMC and (almost) not have access to anything else.

Use Task Scheduler in Windows or the app XBMCLauncher which can be found in the Supplementary Tools forum

Tried Task Scheduler before and it doesn't work because it needs explorer to be running. Even tried directly with the registry and it didn't work.
I'll take a look at XBMCLauncher now. If it can also run external applications, then my problem would be solved.

Use event ghost as your shell and have eg launch your applications and xbmc.
