VOBSUB subtitles in MKV displayed incorrectly after mkclean
#1
Hi. Sorry to repost this. It was previously posted in the old 'nightly thread', but now that thread has been locked and the issue just seems to fade away without anyone's attention... Shocked

So, could someone please do this little exercise to reproduce the issue, so that it can enter keith's list of known issues?
  • Simple test: Download my sample MKV files and verify that you get the same ugly cyan subtitle colour on 'after-mkclean.mkv'
  • Thorough test: Optimize your own MKV (containing VOBSUB) with mkclean and verify the wrong subtitle colouring

Thanks,
Rune

Code:
mkclean --optimize in.mkv out.mkv

I've talked to the Matroska team about this potential bug in mkclean, and after a little research they concluded that the problem lies with XBMC not correctly handling VOBSUB subtitles with zlib compressed CodecPrivate (related to the subtitle palette).

Here is a photo showing the differences before/after mkclean:

I'm seeing this on all of my handbrake encoded mkv files -- all of the subtitles are showing up in that ugly blue, and some of them are downright unreadable. I didn't see an official bug report for this, so I went ahead and created one.
