If you go into the metadata editor's 'Images' section, and change the drop down menu, does it manage to find and show the images? could you send over a screenshot of ViMM's main window and the selected item's folder content?

You could see if renaming the 'fanart.jpg' file to '<moviename>-fanart.jpg' and 'folder.jpg' to '<moviename>-poster.jpg' changes anything, but that shouldn't matter too much.
