Official Announcement:

As a show of good faith to let everyone know that "ViMM: The Next Generation" is still alive, I'm hereby releasing an early alpha.

I've finally gotten some serious work on it done today, but it's far, far from finished, as such use the project at your own risk!
As mentioned before, only the movie part is mostly functional, but there are still parts missing and of course the occasional 'hiccups' and crashes.
Since it's still so very much a work in progress, it's probably wise not to bother too much with bug fix requests right now, since I'll possibly already know about it, or I'll likely get around to fixing them before I make an official release. Feature requests are also going to be moot, because I'm still in the progress of adding stuff.

All the warnings aside, I have made some definite progress over the 0.5x version, particularly GUI wise and even some speed-ups here and there.
Also notable is the addition of Growl support, mediainfo, and you should be able to use this alpha version right alongside with the 0.5x version.

ViMediaManager v0.6α1
System requirements: Mac OS 10.5 or higher.

Have fun trying it out! Wink

Hi Marius,

I sent you an email but just in case, please keep working on this. We need a Mac program to manage Movies & TV Shows.

Please create a clean and clear place to choose the type of Media output (XBMC, YAMJ, ETC) and then set the defaults so it's one less thing for the user to have to deal with.

Thanks and looking forward to testing this.

Rob

dude thank you so much... i been looking for a media manager for mac os since my build of hackintosh a week or two ago.. I love the fact that this media manager is so simple to use not 100 different setting like ember media manager had... The one thing i can complain about is that it does not rename the actual movie file just the folder.... I know its been discussed and someone didnt put the option there because they like to keep the orignal movie title for subtitle findings but some of us just like our movie file to look nicely named so why not include an option to renmae at your preference.. the other thing i notice is that the program starts fine but say for example i go to firefox and then i come back to vimediamanger all i get is the toolbar at the top but the main window never comes back so i do a force quit and restart vimediamanager but all is well other than that i prefer this over mediamanager a thousand times over.. o i found that it takes a while to load a big movie collection so heres a suggestion to be able to "choose an edit folder from here" and "move edited movie folder to here" options at exit" but thats just a suggestion. But yeah i love this.

sure, someone is going to say i should of backed up, but um it's not that easy to just backup individual files like that. oh man not looking forward to doing this all over again. at least XBMC won't change, unless i have to re-scrape the library from scratch for some reason, but what a bunch of wasted work

ok, so it seems the Clean using the words All and Selected wasn't very clear. is there no way to just clear the info for 1 show? doubtful that i'll bothing doing all this again anyways because there are ust too many clicks involved doing a full rescrape and edit

umm it might be a little late now cause this thread is old but if you have all your stuff already showing in xbmc... xbmc offers a future to export your already downloaded art.... to folders.... o well

Hey Marius,

you are really getting somewhere with your manager - grats. Smile.

I just wanted to aks if you will add something like "use folder names for looking up movie name" or so? Because i have all my movies in seperate folders and most of the time the movie files itself are named totally uncool - so ViMM doesn't find the right movie.

Beside that - it works great Smile

I'm currently using the alpha version and I stumbled upon a bug. I have multiple sources for my movies, and for when I add different sources, after saving, the app just keeps the last one added and remove the old source.

Besides that, it's been working fine Smile

Hi Joel, I can't seem to reproduce this on my own, could you take me through the steps you take to add a movie source to ViMM?
and tell me what kind of sources you use. ( local / network / external drives ? )
