Does anybody run XBMC inside a virtual machine? (ie. ESXi)
More specifically, I'm talking about using ESXi and VMDirectPath to allow a Linux guest operating system to directly access my video card (GTX 460).
This is much different from using VMware Workstation because ESXi is a bare-metal hypervisor and only has a text console so I'd need to PCIe direct pass-through to allow XBMC to work, etc.

I too would like to know this! Anyone with hands on experience with this?
I have found evidence on the VMWare forums that it should work, but does not seem to be 100% sure - depends on hardware config. This post has it working with a Radeon GPU: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1781153#1781153 |

for testing & development it works fine and the virtual gpu is enough. For production I do not see the point nor do I have any experience in VMDirectPath but I assume it would work as long as the driver can handle it in a "normal" way.
