Another interesting question I have.
Say you have your unRAID build going..... your parity and everything is set up.... now you go buy this hard drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6822145475 now what if it's bigger then your parity drive? then what? can you still use it? Do any of you actually use a cache drive? I don't can't really find a reason to justify installing one.

Your drive that appears smaller could have HPA on it. Has it been used with a GigaByte mobo?

Replace parity with the new drive then the old parity can become a data drive: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.p...ic=14509.0 Living Room i3 • W7 Ultimate x64 • 120GB SSD • HD 7750 • 2x TBS8922 tuners • Aeon Nox 4.0 Bedroom A6 3500 • W7 Ultimate x64 • 40GB SSD • HD 6550 • Aeon Nox 4.0 Servers unRAID server for Movies (22TB) • unRAID server for TV Shows/Music (11TB) HTPC http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=99831 unRAID Server http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=106786 |

Good point that you point that you brought that up since yes two of them where hooked up to a gigabyte mobo before.... but I found out that "Backup BIOS Image to HDD: DISABLED" in the bios and also there is a program that can tell you if you have HPA on them. Here is that program. "A6-PACK" The Original ☆ unRAID Server ☆ MCE Remote Turn ON HTPC FOUND! w/DONGLE Time to sit back, relax and enjoy XBMC.... CHEERS!!!
