I will second this suggestion.
The sound for most of my media files fills the room at just 50-75% volume, whereas a few of them are incredibly difficult to hear. Unfortunately, my speaker system is connected directly to the PC running my media center (which sound fantastic), so there is no receiver unit to adjust the volume outside of Windows or XBMC.
I'm not sure how well the max volume output could be increased without degrading sound quality, but it would be nice to have a quick way to increase the allowable max, like adding a "volume offset/increase" next to the "audio offset" feature.
