I am getting my grandparents an ATV2 for Christmas and going to hook it to an NAS.

Issue is they do not have internet. So was wondering if i hooked it up at my home and let it populate the library and bring in all the dvd covers then took it to their house would it still work?
Because when i took mine this last weekend it would only work if i went into the file menu and would not work when using the library.

Not sure if that was because i have a different IP here and they dont have one or what.

Statically address both the NAS and the ATV2 and you should be good to go. You just need to make sure that your sources either have the right ip in them or use a source without an IP address.

How do I use a source without an ip?

Do this
Get all your movies on nas
Scan all the information so it looks good like you want it
Power off atv2 and nas
Disconnect Internet
Turn on nas
Turn on atv2

You should have same info because it is already scraped
If not, you can describe what you see at the point
