been looking at those but it only have 12 bays just like the antec 1200. You'll need a 5 in 3 drive cage to fit 20 HDD on it. Do you know of any cheap 5 in 3 drive cage? most of what i saw is around a hundred bucks each.

the AZZA Solano 1000R?? 20 drives?? i dont think so,,,
it has 10 x 5.25" external bays so, you can stick 3 x NORCOS 5-in-3
but then thats only 15 drives... and already more pricey then my build,,,

any idea on what sort of noise this is going to pump out? or what environment it can work in, i.e. in cupboard or a rack under the stairs?

I wonder, whats the criteria to look for in choosing mother board for unraid purpose?
1. built in graphic card
2. support the processor that you are going to use
3. 6 sata 2 port
3. anything else?

Can anybody recommend me intel 1155 motherboard for unraid?

I have look into these motherboards with h67 chipset
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_S...ifications
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product...id=3806#sp
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/m...h67bl.html

After carefully looking at all motherboards, gigabytes seems the best(4pcie and 6 sata drive). What do you think?

are there any other brand worth looking into? (i trust asus the most)
Speaking of processor, the cheapest 1155 available is dual core g620. is this okay?

if i want to dlna stream, what the minimum processor speed for 1080p?(nice to have but not required)

thanks.

Just need to wait for the hard drive prices to drop, and it looks like I got my server upgrade figured out. I am curious to know how much noise this box will make with the 120mm fan and any other silencing mechanisms that I can think of...

Will be building this very soon, probably not the best time to do it with the current state of hard drives but I need it..

One question I did have was I'm unsure how the drives will be powered? Is there something I'm missing that comes with the Norco case? I'm not seeing anything for power cables for the drives unless that's common sense so it was left out. Been reading a lot about the backplane, is there something there that'll split the power for all the drives? I'm assuming i'd still need power cables though..
