Hey Everyone,

I'm currently working on backing up my movie library and was curious about something. I have a lot of DVD series on DVD and obviously want to back them up too.

What is the best way to back them up on my computer? For instance, movies and tv shows take a lot of space so am I just backing up each episode and then importing into XBMC or is there a way to burn the whole season. I know its a noob question, but just curious how you guys handle your tv show backups.

if you are referring to store bought tv series on dvd and not downloaded tv shows you've already burnt to dvd this will work for you.

Install dvd43 on your pc, also install handbrake.
dvd43 will handle the decryption of the dvd and handbrake will allow you to rip in those tv episodes and re-compress them to a much smaller size.

Don't forget to review the xbmc naming conventions for tv episodes so you can name them properly when you rip them in, this will allow the scrapers in xbmc to pick up the metadata for your episodes..
