I don't know if that has been reported yet, but deinterlacing a standard def TV VDR recording causes massive lag and buffering issues for me, it worked fine on 10.0-7 also it works fine without deinterlacing enabled.

I've noticed the deinterlacing performance is poor as well, though I've only needed it for playing DVDs (VIDEO_TS). I haven't had a chance to pull logs and file a bug report yet, but I wanted to quickly chime in a "me too."

Have you also notices the opps in trunk regarding deinterlacing ? There's an existing thread about this.
