atv2 & confluence
#1
Hello,

I just bought an ATV2 and installed xbmc on it with default Confluence skin.
(XBMC, Platform: Mac OS X (11.0.0 AppleTV2,1). Built on Sep 16 2011 (Git:20110916-0c3e6a3))

I would like to have back some behaviour I was used with former ATV1 and maybe you can give some suggestion.

[1] with Confluence skin I don't hear skin's sounds like click.wav

on xbmc.log I see:
11:15:31 T:100048896 INFO: Loading /Applications/XBMC.frappliance/XBMCData/XBMCHome/addons/skin.confluence/sounds/sounds.xml
11:15:31 T:100048896 INFO: skin loaded...

and sounds files seems to be available:

AppleTV:/Applications/XBMC.frappliance/XBMCData/XBMCHome/addons/skin.confluence/sounds root# ls -la
total 136
drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 306 Sep 18 13:38 ./
drwxr-xr-x 9 root wheel 408 Sep 17 00:07 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 4572 Sep 16 11:40 back.wav
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 9842 Sep 16 11:40 click.wav
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1402 Sep 16 11:40 cursor.wav
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 43822 Sep 16 11:40 notify.wav
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 18478 Sep 16 11:40 out.wav
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 20780 Sep 16 11:40 shutter.wav
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 2879 Sep 16 11:40 sounds.xml
AppleTV:/Applications/XBMC.frappliance/XBMCData/XBMCHome/addons/skin.confluence/sounds root#

yet the sound is not played out

[2] on movie/music listing I was used to keep press up-down button on the remote command. With this new release it seems it does just one up-down move and doesn't repeat it.

[3] with the new remote I can't change the volume and it is annoying to look for the television's control

Lastly do you think it would be possible to add some periodic sound when the movie playout get paused ? Reason why I'm asking this is that I do ofter listen movies with wireless headphones and after a while with no sound the headphone dis-engage from base station with a lot of annoying noise... Sad

Thx,
A.

Why are there no navigational sounds in XBMC's menus?
This is a known issue and will be fixed with the new audio engine (developed behind the scenes..).

Unfortunately no precise ETA... lets' hope it will be anytime soon Smile

Still no navigation sounds in XBMC's menus....
Why is that so hard to bring it back ?

Currently running: "Built on Nov 28 2011 (Git:20111128-d9da869)"

Thx.

That would be because AudioEngine was dropped from Eden.

would it come back sooner or later ?
is this just related to this skin or all of them get affected ?

I understand that at first this seems a minor issue but believe me if you listen movies with headphones and do pause or stop for too long the headphones disengage and noise spikes goes to the ears - very very annoying.....

AudioEngine, which contains all of these fixes, didn't make it in time for the Eden release schedule. It is still planned to be included, but you won't see any nightlies with it until at least the new year (at a minimum). Things came up in real life for the developer who was working on it, and he had to stop working on it for a while, but he's back now.

If you think it's so easy, then we welcome a patch to do it.

I really love such kind of questions.

I don't see why its so hard - i think someone here is just too lazy for doing it. Team XBMC is a real rotten club *sigh* ... but i like the team beside that.
