Host instead of ip
#1
Hi all.
I've now googled enough and am going to ask you guys the question Wink

I use xbmc on my laptop and would like to use the android xbmc remote app. The problem is that i cant make my laptop have a static IP because i need to use my laptop on school every day and it wont allow me a static ip there.

The XBMC remote needs "host or ip adress"
But i can't seem to use the host name. After some searching think it might not be possible. But why do they put "host or ip" there when only a ip adress can be used for this. Maybe they should remove the host part in that case..

Do you guys have any idea whether it will work with just the host name? Or another solution maybe?

i switch my tablet back and forth with an app called ipconfig. static when i'm at home, auto everywhere else. only takes a second. doing this on windows may take longer, unless there's a little widget-y thingy for it. idk

Set static IPs on your router?
See if hostnames actually work on your network?
Code:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON `xbmc_%`.* TO 'xbmc'@'%';
IF you have a mysql problem, find one of the 4 dozen threads already open.
